Dear Friend of the Mission Let me say what a great God we have. As many know we was cut in our state grant from 30,000 dollars to 6,000 dollars in June of 2006. You can not believe how God has been faithful to provide the funds to keep us going. The word of God says to seek after His righteous and these things should be added to you. When we look toward God and keeping in His will we do not have to worry about our needs. He provides for those he calls and He is worthy of trust. Trust is just another word for faith. Who are you going to trust to meet your needs? There is no one more trust worthy that the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. The creator of all things has us in the palm of his hand if we will let Him. And if we truly trust in Him we can rest soundly in acknowledgement of who He is and how much He loves us. If you do not know His love in your life please call me and I will tell you about how much he loves you and all the plans he has for you. Jesus said I came so you can have Life and it more abundantly. Call me at 812-847-8110. I want to thank the First Christian Church of Linton for fixing the roof of our building at 77 East Vincennes St. They hired a contractor to come in and do the roof repairs. This was close to 4,000 dollars in repairs that was much needed to keep the building from sustaining more damage. The First United Methodist Church of Linton has supported us in many ways this year. They provide us with food and paper goods on a regular basis, bicycles for the kids at Christmas, and with financial support also. Please let these people know what a great job they are doing supporting the ministry of Roosevelt Mission. I would like to recommend a couple of books. The first one is "Under the overpass" by Mike Yankoski. This is a four week devotional devoted to your feelings and responsibilities as a Christian to the poor. Mike spent eight weeks traveling as a homeless person and in that short period found a awakening. This book asks your some hard questions about your compassion on a daily basis. 1 John 3:18 Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. Henri Nouwen, In the name of Christ, Jesus promises a life in which we increasingly have to stretch our hands and be led into places where we would rather not go. Edmund Burke, The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Henry Ward Beecher, If a man cannot be a Christian where he is, he cannot be a Christian anywhere. The second book I would recommend is, Rich Christians in a age of Hunger by Ronald Sider. I first read this book in 1978 and it changed my outlook on life. It comes at you with a Global look at where the wealth is and how it is distribute. It also uses the word of God ( you know those verses we really do not want to look at ) to shine the light on our own life and how we handle the money we receive. It will make you see how God wants to handle our money for His glory. To God be the Glory!!!!! With Love in Christ, Rev. Jerry L. French |
